Biography

George Hunting Robertson was born on March 18, 1820, in Bethel, Maine, the son of Samuel Robertson and Eliza Hunting.[1][2]

On February 12, 1845, in Rumford, Maine, he married Caroline Virgin.[3][2] They lived in Bethel. Their children included:[4][5][6][7][8]

  • Emma V., b. 15 Nov 1846; d. Mar 1898; m. (1) Stephen Foster, (2) Howard L. Manning
  • Ella Maria, b. 5 Aug 1848; d. 29 Sep 1873; m. Porter K. Ethridge
  • Edda May, b. 19 Feb 1851; d. 18 Feb 1931; m. Charles L. Andrews; resided in Westbrook, Maine
  • Eva C., b. about 1855; m. Alpheus N. Purington of Milan, N. H.
  • George H., Jr., b. about 1857; d. 28 Feb 1934; resided in Gilead and Norway, Maine
  • Mary E., b. about 1858; d. 21 Feb 1926; m. (1) Arthur C. Greene, (2) Jacob H. McLeod; resided in West Medford and Arlington, Massachusetts
  • Arthur P., b. about 1860; d. 21 Oct 1928; resided in Bethel and Eustis, Maine
  • Lena Victoria, b. 1 Aug 1867; d. 23 Nov 1889; m. Scott Winfield Robertson[9]

George died on February 17, 1909,[10] at the residence of his son, Arthur P. Robertson, in Eustis, also known as Bigelow, Maine.[11][12] He is buried in the Skillingston Cemetery in Bethel, Maine.[10]
