" In 1797 he owned about a thousand acres of land in Montgomery County and three thousand acres in Shelby County, Ky, which he received as soldier bonus for long service in the Colonial Wars under King George, and which in turn descended to his children.

He and Margaret Poage had eight children all it seems, born in present Montgomery County..." [1]
