Thomas was born about 1875 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. He was the son of Peter Robertson and Elizabeth Shepherd.
In 1881 Thomas was living at 3 Whitening Row, Dunfermline with his parents and siblings. He was a scholar.[1]
