In the 1871 Canada Census[3], Charles and Jane have 9 children: Lucy Ann (age 25); H.(ugh) Albert (23); Margrit (Elizabeth) (recorded as 27 but is really 20); Charles (19); Mary Ann (14); John (14); Norval (11); Sarah J. (10); and Richd. (3). David and Robert Clarence are missing from the census.
In the 1881 Canada Census[4], Charles and Jane have 5 children remaining at home: Lucie (age 35); John (24); Norval (22); Sarah Jane (20); and Richard (14). And Jane's relative William Mowat (age 68) is living with them. HE is likely a brother or uncle. Sons David and Robert Clarence are missing from this census.
In 1891, Charles is 69 and living with his wife Jane and children Ann (45) and Clarence (23) in New Richmond West[5]
Charles died on 27 Jul 1897 aged ~76.
