Biography
Adopted at age 2 1/2. Took on the middle name of his adopted father Harry Clifton Thompson and the family preserved his real name as his middle name. As a child he was told his name was Clifton Bilbo Thompson, however he was known as known as Billy Thompson. His name was not officially changed until 14 Apr 1943 before his joining the Marine Corp in May during WWII.
