Mize
Her Lord and Savior welcomed Hettie Posey, of Mize, home on July 3, 2010, at St. Dominic in Jackson. Hettie was born on Oct. 18, 1916, one of 10 children. Her parents were Dan and Harriet Elizabeth (Sullivan) Robinson of Taylorsville.
She married Opal Lee Posey on July 20, 1932; they had a son, Carey Quitman Posey and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ates.
Ms. Hettie is survived by: her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ates; son-in-law and husband to Ann, James Ates of Magee; one granddaughter, Bethany Ates Percy and her husband Ben Percy; two great-granddaughters Katherine Paige Percy and Lily Grace Percy of Manchester, CT.; two sisters-in-law, Loaree Robinson of Pearl, and Rilla Faye Robinson of Ashland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hettie loved being outdoors, and spent many hours in her garden. Her yard always reflected the love and time she spent there. From her beautiful flowers to her bountiful garden, she certainly had a special touch. She also enjoyed quilting, her puzzle books, spending time with friends and family, and watching Wheel of Fortune - a favorite indoor pastime. However, she will always be remembered as the lady who made the "best" fig and apple tarts.
All in all, she was loved by her friends and family and will be missed dearly.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 6 at Tutor Funeral Home, Magee.
Graveside services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, with the Rev. Jerry Sullivan officiating and John Howard Robertson assisting.
