Biography

From Some notes of history of the Warner family, to be read at the Reunion in the summer of 1921, taken from the Autobiography of Whitney Arthur Warner "From this man [Andrew Warner]there came to be in 200 years a very large family so that at the time of the birth of John Henry Warner, the father of Daniel Robinson, our father, in the year 1788, they had become very numerous throughout Mass. and Conn. John Henry Warner went to Dutchess County New York and in 1808 Oct. 1 was married to Julia Robinson. They lived there for about 20 years and 8 children were born there, namely, Mary Ann, Emeline, Harriet, Eliza, Daniel, Mariah, Julia Ann and Amanda. Soon after this they moved to Onondaga county and settled near the village of Manlius, where we will leave them while we gather up some of the history of Julia Robinson."

From Warner Family History - The Robinson Story by Eva Aldrich of Emporia Kansas [distributed to family descendants] "Grandma Warner began her life, January 31, 1787 one hundred fifty years ago this coing January. Strange to say, with all her father's wealth she did not live at home much of the time. Or better, she had two homes where love and plenty were extended to her with open arms. Neither home was elaborate in expenditure, just comfortable. The Quaker couple with whom she live so long had no daughter. They had only one son, who was rarely ever at home; disposed to be wild and unsettled, I infer, or he may have been attracted by one of the enterprises that had already flamed into light. At any rate, Grandma never knew anything of his whereabouts or schemes, if he had any, mor than of a common bum. . . . ." "Following is copied from an old Cardington, Morrow County Ohio newspaper clipping, Grandpa's obituary: '" Died of Dropsical complaint, January 25, 1852 at his residence in Lincoln township Morrow County, John H. Warner in the 67th year of his age. He was born in Connecticut, October 12, 1785. At the age of 23 he settled in the State of New York where he remained until the year 1834, when he moved with his family to Ohio where he has resided ever since. He bore his afflictions with faith with a well grounded hope of glorious immortality beyond the tomb. 'Fare well, dear friend, a long farewell, For we shall meet no more, Until we're raised with thee to dwell On Zion's happy shore.'" note" Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Connecticut papers please copy.'"

MRS. HARRIET M. CADY, Cardington; was born in the State of New York, in 1813; daughter of John H. and Julia (Robinson) Warner; she has been married twice. Her first husband was Leander Benson, to whom she was married in 1831; he was also a native of York State, where he was born in 1809. After their marriage they came to what is now Morrow Co. with his parents; he purchased a farm of 200 acres in Lincoln Tp., which he cleared and improved, and upon which she still resides. From this marriage there were eight children, three of whom died in infancy; those living are Daniel, Henry, John H., Adaline and Ada A. The father died in 1856. Mrs. Cady lived a widow two years, when, in 1858, she was married again, her second husband being Parley R. Cady, who was born in Vermont, Aug 4, 1815; he went West in 1837, and settled in Cardington, where he only remained a short time. His first wife was Sophronia Grandy, whose parents were natives of Vermont. They had five children, all of whom are yet living -- Norman W. Lucius S., Myron, Mary L. and Hattie M. Their mother died in August, 1857. Mr. Cady was raised on a farm, but has since followed various occupations; he purchased a farm of 47 acres, near Cardington, which he cleared, and afterwards sold; he then purchased another of 87 acres, which he also cleared, and subsequently sold. Mr. and Mrs. Cady are members of the M. E. Church. Source: History of Morrow County and Ohio – Chicago: O. L. Baskin, 1880, p. 763 Contributed by a Generous Genealogist
