John was born in 1832 in Missouri. (His age varies with each source: Age displayed on Headstone at Graves Cemetery calculates he was born in Jan 19 1832, the 1860 Census says circa 1833, the 1870 Census says circa 1831, military records say 1828)
Near the age of 31, he enlisted as a Sergeant in the Union Army, Company D, Arkansas 3rd Cavalry Regiment on October 30 1863. His place of enlistment was Yell County, Arkansas. His military records provide the following description: Ht 5' 10, eyes blue, hair light, complex fair, farmer, age 35 (his age is disputed), born in Gasconade Co, MO.
John passed away on April 19, 1875 and is buried at Graves Cemetery Delaware, Logan County, Arkansas; Cemetery records establish his death date and age of 43 years and 3 months.[1]
Rootsweb tree says six children of a Joel Robinson, would move to Arkansas by the Civil War.
The sibling relationship between John R and Permelia is established because Permelia actually lived with John R. Robinson in 1870 and then John's widow in the 1880 Census. Rachel and Joel's relationship to John R. and Permelia needs to be established, beyond this Rootsweb tree.
See comments on Joel Robinson for concerns about the sources to establish the relationships of these children (who include Carroll Robinson and Joel Pointer Robinson) to a possible father.
