Daughter of William Roberson (from marriage record) and Phoebe Robinson (single) on 14 September 1827 in East Dereham, Norfolk. She was baptised on 14 October 1827 at St. Nicholas church, East Dereham.[1]
Mother of at least 10 children, probably with her listed single employer Charles Tufts, as she is listed as living with him in various capacities on each census, unmarried, and with more children with undocumented fathers. She finally married him on 25 December 1871.
On 26 September 1897, Elizabeth Tuffs (69) was buried at All Saints' church in Shipdham, Norfolk.[2]
The 1851 census shows Elizabeth's age to be about 10 years older than expected. Is the an error in the record, an error in the Ancestry transcription (it wouldn't be the first) or is this the wrong Elizabeth and there was another person with the same name in the same parish?
Although she was baptised under her mother's name (Roberson) she used her father's name (Robinson) for the baptisms of her first 8 illegitimate children, then used Roberson for the baptisms of her next 2 illegitimate children, then returned to Robinson for her marriage.

Mitford is the district, used on the census and on birth, marriage and death records. Shipdham is a parish within the district of Mitford. From the parish register she was buried in the parish of Shipdham, and from the death record she died in the district of Mitford. She probably died in Shipdham, but I have not yet found any evidence to confirm it.
She is my 3rd great grandmother, through her eldest daughter Charlotte. Stephen Thirkettle
