Biography

Rachel Clarke married Thomas Robinson, who had arrived in Anne Arundel with his brother George; they were neighbors of Beard and Neal Clarke on the South River.

In 1686 Thomas Robinson bought 307 acres "Sutton's Choice," on the South side of the Magothy River from Thomas Sutton. In 1687 Richard Jr., sold 68 acres "The Pound" to Thomas Robinson. In 1702 he sold Thomas 438 Acres of "Huckleberry Forest", 64 acres "Bear Neck" and 200 acres "Gibbs Folly." At the same time, Robinson bought 225 acres "Bare Neck" from Francis Meade.

In 1705, because the courthouse had had a fire in 1704 (in the Maryland colony every courthouse had at least one fire) land owners were asked to re-confirm their titles. In addition, records showing the rent due Lord Baltimore are shown for the landowners both here and in his records in England.

In 1711 Thomas Robinson and wife Rachel deeded to their son Oneale Robertson 332 acres: 200 acres "Gibbs Folly," 68 acres "The Pound," and 64 acres "Bare Neck." In addition, in 1716 Rachel and her second husband Robert Edney "in consideration of the love and affection we do bear to our Loving son Neale Robertson” gave him another 33 acres "Robertson's Purchase" on the South side of the Magothy. In 1714 Thomas Robinson, Jr., inherited 138 acres "Huckleberry Forest" and 307 acres "Sutton's Choice."

In l733 a late inspection into titles in the Manor of Severn was ordered by the Management of Land Affairs in the Province of Maryland in order to secure the titles. In 1734 Mary Robinson, Thomas' widow, re-confirmed her title to 137 acres, part "Huckleberry Forest” and "Sutton's Choice" - total 264 acres, which she now called "Baltimore's Bounty," lying in His Lordship's Manor of Severn.[1]
