According to his obituary found at the Find A Grave link below. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 at Fort Kobbe in the Panama Canal Zone. He then served an additional four years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Another proud accomplishment noted in the obituary was his 50 years of service as an adult scout leader with Boy Scouts of America mostly as Scoutmaster of Troop 118 of Mansfield Ohio.
