Biography

Margaret Allan Rodger was born at Kilbarchan in Renfrewshire on the 11th of October 1818, the daughter of James Rodger and his wife, Agnes Orr. ^[1][2] Her father was a tailor and at some time before 1851 he moved his family to the mill town of Johnstone, setting up business in the High Street. Most likely this was before Margaret's marriage there to flesher, Peter Gemmell, son of John Gemmell and his wife, Jane McQuarrie, in 1840.^[3] Like her father Peter had his business in the High St. ^[4][5][6]

Margaret bore at least nine children losing the three girls and Andrew, one of the twins very early in their lives. Nine year old Peter died in 1858.

Margaret died at the age of 68 on 23 March 1887 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Age: 68
