Biography

Daniel Roe was born at Oyster Bay, Long Island, in 1778. His parents were natives of Wales and came to this county prior to the Revolution. [1]

Early in life Daniel became a minister of the Swedenborgian Church, but later abandoned the pulpit and entered the legal profession, practicing in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. He was a man of broad views and liberal education and was the owner of considerable property. [1]

About 1810 he moved from Langley, Kentucky to Ohio, and settled in Lebanon, where his sons Edward and Charles were born.

He subsequently moved to Cincinnati, and later to Dayton. He laid out an addition to the latter place which is now in the heart of the city. His death occurred there in Dayton in the year 1843. This biography was from the cited reference. [2]

Uncertain as to accuracy of statement His parents were natives of Wales and came to this county prior to the Revolution. A Pedigree Resource File shows direct lineal ancestors living in New York back to 1672. The father (David Roe) of that line was born in England in 1636. No supporting documentation is associated with the Pedigree Resource File, so further digging is needed to substantiate the Pedigree Resource File materials. [3] At least it is someplace to start.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Daniel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Daniel:
