Biography

Claude was born about 1880. He was the son of Reginald Roe and Annie Whish.

BALLIOL COLLEGE. A COLONIAL SUCCESS.

LONDON, Dec. 11. [1900] Mr. Reginald Claude Roe has obtained the mathematical scholarship at Balliol College. Mr. Roe is a native of Brisbane, Queensland.[1]

Reginald Claude Roe...‘Meadow House’, Bury Old Road, Rochdale, England. Claude, according to his brother A. Stanley Roe, was a ‘bright scholar. He won a Government University Scholarship, went to Oxford, won a Mathematical Scholarship at Balliol, and eventually joined a big Flannel firm in the north of England and ended his days there’ (A. Stanley Roe (1964), p. 15). Claude writes about Mollie’s visit to England in 1924; problems with his health; a bycicle trip with his relatives from South Africa (the Mullins family) and about his brother Toby (E. H. Roe).[4]

REGINALD CLAUDE ROE, Deceased. Pursuant to the Trustee Act, 1925, Section 27. NOTICE is hereby given that all creditors and other persons having any claims or demands against the estate of Reginald Claude Roe late of Healey Hall, Rochdale, in the county of (Lancaster Flannel Manufacturer, who died on the 5th day of May 1942 and whose Will was proved in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of His Majesty's High Court of Justice on the 12th day of October 1942 by Morag Ada Sandford Roe and Morag Margaret Roe both of Healey Hall aforesaid James Niebuhr Tod of Cam near Dursley in the county of Gloucester and Edward Gordon Turner of Old Colony House South King Street, in the city of Manchester the executors therein named are hereby required to send particulars thereof in writing to us the undersigned the Solicitors for the said executors on or before the 30th day of January 1943 after which date the said executors will proceed to distribute the assets of the said deceased amongst the persons entitled thereto having regard only to the claims or demands then notified and will not be liable for the assets of the deceased or any part thereof so distributed to any persons of whose claims or demands they shall not then have had notice.—Dated this 16th day of November 1942. STANDRING, TAYLOR and CO. 1, King Street, Rochdale, Solicitors for the said (093) Executors.[5]
