Emma was born in 1870 in Spalding, Lincolnshire, England. In 1894 she married Jonathan Longden. They had 6 children, 4 daughters and 2 sons (1 born after they left England). In 1908 they left England and moved to New Zealand where they lived the remainder of their lives. He passed away in 1956 in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand. She is buried at the Hamilton West Cemetery.
