Name

Name: David Roe[4][5][6][7]

Birth

Record ID Number: MH:IF1120
Date: 1636
Place: England
Date: 1642

The Frank C. Roe book suggests that David was born in England, immigrated to Massachusetts, and then moved to Flushing.:

Hugh Roe may have been the first of his immediate family to emigrate from England to America. The consensus of all references and data secured indicate that he landed at or near Weymouth on the southern shore of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1642. There were, however, at least three other Roe's; John, David and Anthony, who came from England to Massachusetts at about the same time! John Roe, in fact, may have been the pioneer; as early as 1630, according to two sources, although another estimates it ca 1642. No ship passenger lists or other records have been found covering the arrivals of Hugh, John or David. Anthony Roe is listed in Bank's, 'English Emigrants to New England 1620-1650" from the parish of Meavy in Devonshire; landed in Portsmouth on the ship 'Mary and John". [8]
p. 1.
It is unknown where David Roe and John Roe landed; perhaps within the Plymouth Colony, but the fact is that they moved on promptly; both to Long Island. John, who may have been the earliest and oldest, as previously mentioned, settled in Brookhaven near the eastern end. David was in Flushing, now part of New York City, in the early 1640s. [8] p. 2.

Marriage

Location was Town of Flushing, Queens County, Province of New York. The date of marriage predates the formation of the United States; at this time, Flushing was just an English settlement. [9]

Roe-1540 and Roe-691 appear to represent the same person because: Despite profile differences in POB, DOB, this is the same person, based on Torrey book and Frank C. Roe book about early Roes in America. Differing profile fields should be marked as uncertain until sources provided to validate dates.

Thanks

Hi Edwin, Nicholas and other interested parties... this profile has been set as an unmerged match with Roe-1540 since January. It seems the parents are the issue? I don't believe anyone really knows who his parents were. If they do, would they please provide evidence? Otherwise, I think the two Davids should be detached from their parents and merged. It's causing downstream issues to have these duplicates. cc/the other profile. :)
