Hi!

How are you? I'm Shirley, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Do you have Royal Ancestors? Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Shirley ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Laura!

Just wanted you to know that there is a great Genealogy 101 reference list here: How to use Wikitree. It contains great tips for beginning your Ancestor Quest, including direct links to WikiTree for specific research queries.

Deborah, Greeter

Hi Laura, try using family search.org to search for your father's family. You can search census records and may find baptismal or marriage records as well (sometimes baptismal or marriage may contain parents names). Census records can help a great deal to help with approximate years of birth and with names of everyone in household. I recommend family search.org first because it is free and then ancestry.com next which you have to pay for. If you need anymore help please let me know.

Glad you Volunteered!

You are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced- if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

For a list of Member benefits, see Community Members page.

Our Mentors are glad to answer questions, too.
