Biography

Joseph was born on February 16, 1875 in Todd County, Kentucky. [1][2]

He married Francis Jane Hightower on November 18, 1897 in Todd County, Kentucky.[3]

Their son Wallace Ulysses Roe was born February 26, 1899 and their daughter Sylvia Irene Roe on June 12, 1901. They also had an unamed infant son on May 1, 1905 who died on May 23.[4]

Francis passed away on August 9, 1907 in Todd County, Kentucky.

In 1909, Joseph married his second wife Laura Louzinie Hightower who is the younger sister of Francis. The 1910 U.S. Census says Joseph and Laura have been married one year.

They moved three counties North to Ohio County, Kentucky sometime before filling out his 1918 World War I Draft Card[5] Their first daughter Eva Odessa Roe was born there in 1918 and son Warren Anthony Roe in 1919.

They appear to have moved one county South to Muhlenberg County, Kentucky where their daughters Ollie Mae Roe was born in 1922 and Mary Lou Roe in 1924.

They moved another county South back to Todd County before his death on October 1, 1928 at the age of 53.[1] Their daughter Anna Margaret Roe was born almost two months after his death, but Anna lived for only two months.[6] His Death Certificate lists his occupation as "Miner/Blacksmith".[2]
