Virginia William Matthew "Billy" Roe Sr. was born around 1794 in Virginia. [1] His parents later moved the family to Robertson County, Tennessee.[2]
Tennessee In the 1820 Census, William is most likely one of the two 16-26 year old sons living with Moses Roe in Robertson County.
Sometime around 1820, William married Margaret Bell.[2] Their first daughter Mary Margaret Roe was born October 24, 1823.
Their eighth child Nancy Elizabeth Roe was born in Tennessee on January 3, 1841.
Kentucky Sometime after the birth of Nancy the family moves to Todd County, Kentucky where their ninth child Edward Cheatham Roe is born. They have two more children in Kentucky before Margaret dies in August 1856.
Missouri William passed away on February 8, 1874 in Missouri.[1] He is buried in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Barry County, Missouri (his son Andrew is also buried there).[3]
William and Margaret are mentioned in the "Todd County Kentucky Family History" published in 1995:
