Born on January 29, 795 at Milshoe, County Wexford, Ireland, John Jr. was baptized on February 1, 1795 according to the Parish Register at Camolin in Ferns Parish.
While his father, John Roe Sr., was still alive, John Roe Jr. made no attempt to cross his father's will and marry. After John Roe Sr.'s death in 1836, John Roe Jr. remained in the homestead at Lot 1 on the Ottawa shore. On August 6th, 1839 John was married to Frances (Fanny) McCann at Hawkesbury, Ontario by Rev. James McNally, Methodist Episcopal minister, with James and William Bradly as witnessess.
John and Fanny started their family on May 28, 1840 with the birth of their son John, follwed by Caroline Alice on January 21, 1842, George on March 28, 1844, and William Henry on August 21, 1846.
John died December 5, 1853 at age 58, and Fanny died December 27, 1865 at age 62. They are buried in the Clarence Cemetery as are many other descendants of John Roe Sr. and Sara Sherwood
