Mary Rogers was born on 09 November 1675 in Eastham, Plymouth Colony the daughter of James and Mary (Paine) Rogers.[1][2]
A deed dated 18 June 1690 establishes that Mary, daughter of James Rogers, was married to John Cole at the time of the deed, six months before her 15th birthday.[3] John was the son of John and Ruth (Snow) Cole, born Eastham 6 March 1669/70,[4] and a descendant of Mayflower passenger Steven Hopkins.[2]
Mary Cole died in Eastham on 17 February 1731/2.[5]
John married, as his second wife, Sarah (Hamblen) Higgins in November 1732 in Eastham,[6] the widow of Richard Higgins, and daughter of John Hamlen.[7]
John's will, dated 30 July 1743 and proved 19 January 1746/7, names wife Sarah; sons Joshua, Joseph, John, James and Moses; grandson Jonathan Cole; grandsons Nathaniel and Jesse Cole and their mother Hope, widow of deceased son Jonathan; granddaughter Hope, Dorcas and Mercy Cole; daughters Mercy [sic] Snow, Phebe Wickham and Thankful Snow; son Josshua of Eastham to be executor.[9] In the will of her grandfather Thomas Paine, Mary Cole was given a share of his land, land which was perhaps left to her grandson Jonathan Cole in her husband's will.[2]
Mary Rogers the daughter of James Rogers was borne the ninth day of November 1675
