The book Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut, vol. 3, published in 1911, includes an entry for Josiah Rogers. The entry includes a short biography and birthdates of Josiah's children. ^[1]

The entry indicates that Levi Rogers was the son of Josiah Rogers and Lydia Goodsell and was born on 10 February 1717.

Information from the Barbour Collection indicates the birth in Branford, Connecticut, of Levi Rogers, son of Josiah and Lydia. The birth month is given as February but no year is indicated. ^[2]

Marriage Record

Information from the Barbour Collection indicates the marriage in Branford, Connecticut, on 14 December 1743 of Levi Rogers and Johanna Trusdell by Rev. Jacob Hemingway. ^[3]

Further research finds that Jacob Hemingway was Levi's mother's mother's brother. In 1702, Jacob Hemingway had been the first student, although not the first graduate, of became later known as Yale College.

Item. I give to my sons Jonathan and Levy Rogers all that farm of land where they now dwell Jonathan to have ye Cedar Swamp and ye Cedar Swamp Lot adjoyning; and so much of ye Hill Lot and ye cove lot as to make up ye one half of ye whole; and I give to my son Levy ye other half, Levy to have his part on that side of ye farm where he dwells with ye buildings standing thereon; and my sd son Jonathan Rogers to have ye side of ye land where he dwell with ye buildings thereon the sd land to be to my sons to their heirs and assigns forever.
