Harry was born in 1893. He was the son of Joseph Rogers and Sarah Richardson.[1]
At an early age his family migrated to New Zealand from Victoria.
During WW1 he served in the NZEF, No 1/3 in 5th Wellington Regt from 9 Aug 1914 to 15 Apr 1915. At time of enlistment he was a warehouseman with Hooper & Harrison of Wellington, 5 ft 7 in tall, fair complexion, brown eyes and dark hair. He served all but a few days of that time in Samoa (A German territory at the time) as part of the Samoa Expeditionary Force where he contracted dengue fever, from which he made a full recovery. He had prior military service with the Reserves and the Kelbourne Rifles & Territorials.
Following discharge he moved to Brisbane, Queensland by 1920 and lived at West End. (Cnr Stanley & Beattie Sts, and later in Skinner St).
He passed away in Brisbane in 1970. [2]
