Research note

History of Parliament asserts that the two sons of John Rogers MP were both called John. [1] Who then is Thomas?

Several errors here. His mother as shown as his wife, there are several accounts of his father being named Henry. His parents as shown are more likely grandparents. Further research required. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! Gordon Simpkinson

This Thomas was the son of John Rogers of Benham Valence and Elizabeth Shottesbroke, daughter of John Shottesbroke. Thomas's father, John Rogers of Benham Valence, was the son of a John Rogers from Bryanston (though I'm unclear which one). Possibly John of Benham Valence is a missing generation? I could believe he was born around 1408.
The dates seem a bit out here. Thomas's IPM says that Thomas, his son and heir, was "16 and more" in 1471. It would be unusual for that wording to mean significantly more than 16, so his eldest (and probably only) son was born in about 1455. If this Thomas were born in 1408, that gives a 47-year gap between his birth and the birth of his oldest son. As this profile has no sources I cannot see where the 1408 date comes from, but a birth between 1420 and 1435 seems rather more plausible.
