Biography
My grandfather, James Galette Rogers, was called "Lette." He is erroneously listed in an 1880 Appanoose County Iowa census as a girl named "Gileta." Census takers just wrote what they heard. Many people who do not know this branch of the family personally have perpetuated the error.
