NOTE by Chet Snow: Unpublished family genealogy research by Prof. CA Bonine shows that the Rogers family's land was originally in Somerset Co., Maryland; it became Worcester Co., in 1742; then after the Mason-Dixon Line was established in 1767, it was located inside Sussex County, Delaware (but Maryland did not cede the area until 1774). Thus, although the family lived on the same land since the early 18th Century, it was under 3 different administrations. The Prettyman family moved to Sussex, County, Delaware in 1696. Comfort Prettyman and her cousin Sarah who married David Marvel were called "the prettiest girls in Sussex County".[2]
