Charles Rogers fled Londonderry, Ireland to escape religious persecution. He arrived about 1794, as a stowaway, worked as a peddler for 2 years while seeing the country and learning the language.

Charles, in his travels, met Hannah Skidmore, daughter of Revolutionary War Captain John & Mary Magdalena (Hinkle) Skidmore. They were married, in 1796 by Rev. Morton, at her father's plantation near Ruddle, Virginia.

Charles & Hannah moved to what is now West Virginia with their 6 children. They are buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, behind the church, on what was their home place.

Hannah, born about 1776. She married Charles Rogers (1774-1849) in 1796. He was born in Londonderry, Ireland, and emigrated to Virginia in 1794. They moved in 1810 to the mouth of the Litter Otter in what is now Braxton County, and in 1831 to Wallback, Clay, (West) Virginia. She died there in 1847; they are buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at that place. [1]
