It appears Samuel married outside the church after specific caution against this. Proceedings against him over this began in August 1762 (61?).[2] He was eventually reinstated to the Hopewell Monthly Meeting on 6 Jun 1763.[3] There are numerous entries in the Hopewell MM record regarding the matter.
Note: there is remaining confusion as to the mother of child Martha born 1759. This would appear to be before Samuel's marriage to Mary Rogers however this is uncertain as is the date of death of Samuel's first wife.
False Information
There is considerable undocumented information concerning Mary Rogers to be found.
Lester, Memory Aldrige. Old Southern Bible Records. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2002, contains an entry for Samuel Pearson which is full of bad information.
The Indiana Genealogy database at Ancestry.com also contains questionable (undocumented) information in newspaper articles from 1931-33.
There is speculation she was the wife of Samuel Rogers of Monmouth, New Jersey but since he was Quaker had he died her marriage to Samuel Person would not have caused Samuel to be disavowed.
