Last Will and Testament of John Rorar late of Springfield Twp. dec'dI, John Rorar, of Springfield Township, County of Huntingdon and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, do make and publish this my will and testament.
I give and bequeath to my son Simon Rorar, unconditionally at my decease, the lot or parcel of land, upon which he now resides, containing twenty acres or thereabouts. All the residue of my estate, real and personal, whatsoever I may die possessed of, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Jane Rorar, to have and to hold and to enjoy the same during the term of her natural life, so long as she continues to bear my name, this I bequeath to her in lien of dower, under provisos hereinafter mentioned to wit: my sons Elichiam and Simeon shall have the option or privilege of farming that portion of my real estate known as the Ridge farm, now farmed by the said Elichiam, they the said Elichiam and Simeon shall pay the taxes on the same, from year to year, and they shall pay an deliver to my wife Jane Rorar at her residence one third of the grain and hay, the produce of said farm, and my said wife shall be entitled to one third of the fruit, the produce of said farm and she shall also have and retain the right of pasturing two head of cows or cattle on said farm and my sons, John and Henry shall have a like option or privilege of farming that portion of my real estate known as the home place, subject to the same payments of taxes, grain, hay and fruit as are before described in the case of Elichiam and Simeon, my wife also to have the right of pasturage for two head of cows or cattle this the home place, as well as on the Ridge farm. Nevertheless, my son John shall have for his own use and behoof all the produce of certainfruit trees planted and purchased by him, and the said John and Henry shall furnish their mother, at her residence, a sufficiency of wood for fuel, and shaul (sic) cut, chop and split the same, ready, handy and convenient for use; and my said wife shall have, hold and retain supreme control over the house or family mansion situate on the home place and all of my personal effects.I also give and bequeath to my sons Elichiam and Simeon, subject to my wife's title and interest therein, all that part of my real estate before mentioned and known as the Ridge farm with all there unto appertaining and to my sons John and Henry all that part of real estate before mentioned and known as the home place, together with the buildings and all thereunto appertaining, but be it distinctly understood that these bequests to Elichiam and Simeon and to John and Henry do not interfere with nor invalidate their mother's title and interest in the said property, and that the said bequests are valid only when her title and interest shall cease by her demise orotherwise.
