George Romney was christened in Dalton-in-Furness in Lancashire on 29th July 1781. He was the son of George Romney and Eleanor Park.
The Atkinson, Fisher, Park, Romney and Slater families were among a small group of families who were the major farming and mercantile families in the Furness Peninsula and as such were all related through intermarriage.
