Biography

Ary Roosa married twice. His first wife was Johanna de Hoges. After her death, he married Neeltje Westphael, widow of Isaac Burhans. The second marriage was on 25 October 1737 at Rhinebeck, New York. [1]

Ulster County ,Dutchness New York is a Dutch comminuty where most of the immigrants from holland/netherlands would come and live.. they had a nice church there too where some religious folk could come and pray.[2]

1726. . . Old Miscellaneous Records of Dutchess County (The Second Book of the Supervisors and Assessors) published by Vassar Brothers' Institute of Poughkeepsie. He was listed in a Roll for personal taxes for freeholders as ARIA ROSEA.

1728 . . . Old Miscellaneous Records of Dutchess County (The Second Book of the Supervisors and Assessors) published by Vassar Brothers' Institute of Poughkeepsie. At an election held at the Kips bergh in the North Ward of Dutchess County on th e first Tuesday in April being the second day of said month and in the first year of George the second King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the faith (1728). These following persons were chosen by majority of votes to serv e for the ensuing year and ward, viz: Arie Rosa, Junr - Overseer of the Kings High Way and other Ways.

1730 . . . Old Miscellaneous Records of Dutchess County (The Second Book of the Supervisors and Assessors) published by Vassar Brothers' Institute of Poughkeepsie. In an election in Poiughkeepsie on April 07, 1730 he was elected as an assessor - Arrye Rosa.

1737 . . . Church records state he was the widow of Johanna De Hoges when he married Neeltje Westfall. Per the Van Etten Family Chart by the Ulster Co. Genealogical Society, he married second to Neeltje Westphael, widow of Isaac Burhans.

Ary Roosa was a man, and was the second husband of Neeltje Westphael, widow of Isaac Burhans. See Burhans genealogy, pages 14-15. I am going to edit the profile and the relationships accordingly.
