Biography

ARTHUR B (not proven to be "Brown" but possibly "Brandon") ROSS has two males descendants who have tested the BigY 700 test at ftdna.com. Their tests PROVE that Arthur is NOT a descendant of the Woodbridge, Middlesex, NJ family. He is in fact, a descendant of FRANCIS ROSS who was born in 1665 Scotland and settled in Frederick Co. VA. His haplogroup is R-FGC35131. This family of Ross is not Celtic, nor is it Viking. The family arrived from de Ros, France several generations ago, and are of Kilravock, Scotland. This family branched in three main groups: ROSS, ROSE, and a group that had used both surnames, Rose and/Rose. This is all proven with yDNA! For more information see the Ross dna project and the Rose dna project at ftdna.com. Also see https://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=ross

A father's death date (Ross-24737 died 13 Feb 1760) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Ross-5499 born 19 Sep 1789) .

Exactly! I cannot impress upon Ross researchers enough that the Isaac Barclay Ross is NOT Arthur's father. As for Margaret's birthdate.... it was an estimate.
