In Mr. Chappell's book[1], this is James Ross "1.7", which the entirety of Chapter Nine is dedicated to this individual.

Biography

James Ross was born 28 Sep 1744 and died in the winter of 18705/1806. He married Jean Loving on 17 Feb 1766 and to their marriage were born 5 children.

Land description: A certain tract of land situation lying on the North side of Saluda river containing three hundred acres more or less granted to John Martain [3] from sd Martain to William Halbrook [4] from sd Halbrook to sd Ross from sd Ross to Loving Ross sd land beginning on a persimmon tree 3+ thence North 13E15 to a black oak 3+ thence S62E42 to a stake thence runing with Drurys Morris line [5] [6] to include the Widow Mannings line thence with said line to a pine 3+ thence up the meanders of said river to the begining...'' [7]

Kentucky

- James Ross died in Livingston County during the winter of 1805/06 while visiting his son John. His family remained in South Carolina with his son Loving.

I think Sarah's last name was Loving, you might want to check this. Another alternate is Lovelace or Loveless.
