Silas was born in 1819. He was the son of Abijah Ross and Elizabeth Jackson.
General Information: Silas G. Ross, born November 14, 1819 and died May 3, 1874. Matilda E. Ayers born August 16, 1825 and died November 9, 1901, married October 1, 1840. They lived in a log house on Short Creek. One boy and ten girls were born. The girls married into families in the area. These families were Bryant, Hogan, Hobbs, George, Bradley and Gill. It is said that Silas Ross rode off from the house on a horse to hide some valuables. Upon his return to the house, he descended from the horse and slumped dead before he was able to tell anyone where he hid the valuables. They were never found by the family. [2]
He passed away in 1874.
He is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, New Dellrose, Lincoln County, Tennessee [1]
