Page 35 (II) Robert (2), youngest son of Robert (1) Ross, was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, September 2, 1753. He was educated in Lancaster county, continuing his studies there until 1784, then coming to Fayette county with his father, and settling in Nicholson township. He was a farmer until his death in 1823, aged sixty-nine years. He served in the militia, attaining the rank of Captain. He married Dorcas Andrews, died August 10, 1835. They were Presbyterians. Children: 1. Joseph, born March 2, 1779. 2. John, born January 31, 1786, died August 1, 1865. 3. Robert (3), born November 28, 1787, died November 12, 1823. 4. Nancy, born February 15, 1789, died August 15, 1863. 5. Moses A., born August 11, 1790, died November 22, 1862. 6. Jean, born December 24, 1792. 7. Dorcas, born January 9, 1795, died February 12, 1880. 8. Warwick, born June 7, 1797. 9. Hanniah of whom further.(3)
