Baptism

Mary Ann Ross was the daughter of Alexander Ross (Ross-14227) & Johanna Maria van Rooyen. (van Rooyen-1056). Mary Anne Ross was born on 28/6/1858. and baptized on 19/7/1858 at Beaufort West, Cape Colony in the presence of Field cornet Smit , and witnessed by William Twaits and his wife (en sy Vrouw) ^[1]

Travel

Mary Ann Ross, travelled into the interior with her father, Alexander Ross, and their family, settling in north western Orange River Colony..(ORC). Alexander Ross was working with Boer Kommando (military) in the Colony.

Marriage

Mary Anne Ross was married to George Edward Francis at the Wesleyan church on 19/3/1888 at Heilbron. They move to Frankfort where George was already a storekeeper... a general merchant dealership. ^[2]

Family

They start a family. Their son George Edward Francis has died soon after birth, as he doesn't appear on his mother Mary Anne Ross death notice. Two daughters.: Constance Edith & Olive.:

Death

Mary Anne Francis suddenly passed away on 19/7/1898,^[3]and is survived by her husband and daughters Olive (14 ) & Constance (12), who did their schooling in Durban with their Grandmother Catherine Francis, as guardian.^[4] (Suggestion) It is most likely they stayed near Harrismith with Pastor J.J. Ross (Brother of Mary Anne) as their custodian.
