James L. Ross was born to Thomas Ross and Abigail Nickerson on January 4, 1802 in Stoney Island, Barrington, Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada. [1] [2] [3]

James married first Anna Smith, daughter of Archelaus Smith and Patience Hamilton on December 2, 1824 in Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada. [4] [5]
