John Ross, of Port Glasgow was an excise officer, his wife Elizabeth Fullerton came from Benholm, Kincardinshire, Fife, Scotland.
From Gary Dodson - John Ross after returning to Philadelphia in 1781, and before his death in 1800, had become the owner of property in Georgia in St. Mary's, which was previously the estate of James Seagrove. It was still part of the estate of John Ross during the War of 1812, in which Samuel Breck, one of the administrators of Mr. Ross's estate, tried to get damages from the government for the use of that property by government forces during the war. As far as I know, that issue was never resolved.
