Biography

John was born in 1602 in Thurlaston, Leicestershire, England. He was the son of Roger Rowe and Catherine (Cotes) Foxley.^[1]

Mr John Roe married Katherine Turvile the daughter of Mr George Turvile at Aston Flamville, Leicestershire, on 17 December 1622.^[2]

John Rooe of Normanton Turvile, Leicestershire, made his will on 9 September 1653, desiring to be buried in the chancel of Thurlaston church near the bodies of his first son Thomas Rooe and his second daughter Mary Rooe; and making his brother-in-law Henry Turvile of Aston Flamville, Leicestershire, and William Allestry of Derby Esq. trustees of his property at Bassett House and Leicester Forest, and naming

• his second daughter Elizabeth Rooe
• his youngest son John Rooe
• his mother Katherine Foxley, widow
• his wife Mistress Katherine Rooe sole executrix

The will was proved at Westminster on 1 July 1654.^[3]

John Rooe Esq. of Normanton Turvile was buried at Thurlaston, Leicestershire, on 17 September 1653.^[4][5]
