Biography
Stephen Rowe was born in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1781, the fifth child and fourth son of James Rowe Sr.
He married Barbara Huffman on April 4, 1801 in Botetourt County, Virginia.[1]
Stephen and his family moved from Giles County, Virginia to Pike County, Kentucky between 1830 and 1840. He died about 1844 before the 1845 court order. (Read below the Court order of 1845 in Pike County Kentucky to Barbara Rowe.)

1845: Pike county Court Order of 1845 states the following: "Ordered that Barbara Rowe widow of Stephen Rowe and Catherine Fry widow of Henry Fry be exempt from the payment of a County levy against their husbands for 1844."
Genetic testing and YDNA
Tests results at FTDNA and 23&ME by multiple male line descendants of James Rowe Sr, including several male line descendants of Stephen Rowe and the lines of his brothers James Rowe Jr and Joseph Rowe, have determined that Stephen Rowes YDNA haplogroup was R-A195. This is part of a YDNA haplogroup known as "Irish Type 2" (haplogroup CTS4466),[5] a lineage strongly associated with southern Ireland and the Uí Fidgenti in particular. (FTDNA Uí Fidhgeinte project). Research on this field of inquiry about the origins of the Rowe/Roe family is currently being coordinated at the FTDNA Rowe Surname Project.
