John Rowell was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts. He was a carpenter by trade as was his father, grandfather, great grandfather. John was the first of his family to leave Massachusetts and head from new territory. He settled in Chester, New Hampshire. He died without a will in 1737 and his estate was administered by his widow Elizabeth Colby Rowell. [1]
