Life-Long Resident of Simpson County Dies After Short Illness

MAGEE, Jan. 11 - Funeral services were held at the Sharon Presbyterian church for Richard E. Runnells, lifelong resident of this county, following his death in a local hospital. Mr. Runnells was a prominent citizen in this community and a member of an old and respected family who settled in this county many years ago.

He is survived by his wife, and 16 living children, as follows: Dewitt Runnells, Travis Runnells, Hinds Runnells, Delos Runnells of Magee, Charles Runnells, and Ollie Runnells of Mt. Olive, Jerome Runnells of Bogalusa, La., Ernest Runnells of Mize, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Magee, Mrs. Mattie Sullivan of Mt. Olive, Mrs. Irene Sullivan of Magee, Mrs. Bertha Ingram of Mize, Mrs. Richard Runnells of Mt. Olive, Mrs. Bessie Garner of Magee. Mrs. Maggie Kennedy of Magee, and Mrs. Alma [sic, s/b Annie] Lois Roberts of Prentiss.

Services were conducted by the Rev. E. L. Story of Mt. Olive from the Sharon Presbyterian church, with interment in the Sharon cemetery.
