Sylvia Curtis Hunter 1923-2010

The passing of Sylvia Curtis Hunter of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Bruce Hunter Sr. occurred on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on January 21, 1923 in Westchester, NS, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Oressa Rushton. Sylvia enjoyed BINGO, crossword puzzles, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, writing letters and reading.

Sylvia is survived by her children, David (Doreen), Joan MacLean, Roger (Anne), Richard (Ellen), Carolyn (Paul) and Polly (Harry); step children, Jane, Phoebe (Glen), Margaret (Vincent), Manzer, Bruce (Beverley), Elaine, Herbie, Kenny, Elaine, Cindy and Gerry-Ellen; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; son-in-law, Kirk Billings and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and first husband, Allison Lewis Cameron, Sylvia was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Billings; sisters, Leora O’Hara, Olga Palmer and Kathryn Shay; brother, Whitney Rushton and grand daughter Melanie Hunter.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Peter Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in Port Howe Cemetery, NS at a later date.
