JOHN RUSSELL, born at Andover, 1 Jul 1746 son of John Russel and Hannah Foster;[1] John died at Andover, 12 Aug 1830 at age 84;[2][3] married at Andover, 1 Feb 1774,[4] PHEBE ABBOTT, born at Andover, 29 Aug 1749 daughter of Barachias Abbot and Hannah Holt;[5] Phebe died at Andover, 17 Apr 1809 at age 59 years, 6 months.[6][7] John married 2nd Mary Wilkins. Mary Wilkins was first married to Nathaniel Sherman.
Phebe Abbott and John Russell resided at Andover where they had a farm property.
The estate of John Russell entered probate 17 August 1830.[8] The will of John Russell has bequests to the following persons: beloved wife Mary; grandson John Russell (oldest male heir with the name Russell), daughters Phebe Lovejoy, Hannah Abbot, Betsy Smith, Sally Loring, the heirs of daughter Dolly Lovejoy who is deceased, and heirs of daughter Nancy Woodbridge who is deceased; daughter-in-law Phebe Russell[9] (this to be in the hands of a trustee); and grandchildren John Russell, William Russell, Edward Russell, Phebe Russell, and Joseph Russell. Benjamin Jenkins is named executor and trustee.

v SALLY RUSSELL, b. 1783; d. at Andover, 10 Jun 1848; m. at Andover, 23 Oct 1806, THOMAS LORING, born in NH, about 1780 son of John and Sarah (Foster) Loring; Thomas d. at New Orleans, 1826. Thomas was a machinist and he placed the machinery in the first steamboat to go down the Ohio River. He died of spotted fever in New Orleans.[11][12]

After Dolly’s death, John married PERSIS BAILEY, b. at Andover, 25 May 1783 daughter of William and Rebecca (Hildreth) Bailey; Persis d. at Andover, 18 Feb 1816.

Aug 1790; d. at Arlington, MA, 29 Dec 1818; m. 1812, SAMUEL WOODBRIDGE, b. at Marblehead, 13 Jan 1788 son of Dudley and Sara (Brock) Woodbridge; Dudley d. at Cambridge, 28 Jan 1867. After Nancy’s death, Samuel married, 30 Sep 1821, DORCAS RUSSELL, b. at Bethel, ME, 8 Apr 1796 daughter of Benjamin and Mehitable (Abbott) Russell; Dorcas d. at Boston, 29 Nov 1877.
