Elizabeth (Russell) Pinder is part of a Bahamian family.
Biography
Elizabeth Russell was born in the Bahamas but was brought to the Florida Keys as a very small child. This family is first found in the Dade County Census beginning in 1840 since at that time the Florida Keys had been split between Dade and Monroe County. It wasn't until after the Civil War that all of the Florida Keys were restored to Monroe County. This Russell family were among a handful of early settlers in the Keys, first at Indian Key, then Key Vaca and finally what is now considered the Upper Keys in Islamorada, Matecumbe and Tavernier.
