Derek 'Rick' Russell was born on March 1 1949 to Charles Russell and Eileen Childs in Newburyport MA. As a military family, the family frequently moved. In 1954 they moved to Sacramento, Sacramento, CA where Chuck was stationed at Mather AFB. They returned to Newburyport in 1956 and in 1959 moved to Centerville located on Cape Cod where Rick attended Centerville Elementary School. 1962 brought yet another move, this time to Colorado Springs, El Paso, CO. Rick attended Air Academy High School and in 1966 returned to Newburyport and graduated in 1967.
Rick enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in May 1968 and served in the Vietnam Conflict. After being honorably discharged in 1972, Rick joined the family now residing in Las Vegas, Clark, NV. On 2 Nov 1973 Rick married Tona Robinson in Las Vegas, Clark, NV. They had one son, Shane Russell born 27 Jun 1975. The marriage ended in divorce on 22 Oct 1976. Rick later married Marie Shea. In 1998 they moved to Reno, Washoe, NV.
