Sarah Russel was born in 1730. She was the daughter of Daniel Russell and Jerusha Dickenson, the second child to be named Sarah in that family. Her older sister had died in 1728.

Sarah married Jedediah Clark, born March 25, 1726, son of Ebenezer. They moved to Sunderland, Massachusetts after 1755. Jedediah was a deacon, and a prominent citizen of the town.
Sarah died on January 20, 1772, soon after the birth of her 9th child, who died in infancy. Jedediah then married Ruth Hawkes, daughter of Eliezer and Abigail (Wells) Hawks of Deerfield, on July 13, 1774. Jedediah died on August 9, 1800; Ruth died August 19, 1811, at age 79.
