Evalina Marvin Russell was born on 1 Dec 1892 in Altoona, Wilson County, Kansas to George Gilbert Russell and Harriet "Hattie" (Palmer) Russell. She was the sixth child born to George and Hattie. She was preceded by Minerva "Minnie" Esther, born 14 Aug 1880, George F., born 11 Jun 1882 and died the next year, Harvey Edward, born 28 May 1884, Margaret "Maggie" Mae, born 12 Apr 1885, and Bessie E., born 21 Jan 1889 and died the same year. A brother, Delbert Earl, was born on 23 Apr 1898 in Wilson County, Kansas.
