Biography

David Russell was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

According to family records, David was born at Turee station, near Coolah, and was first baptised at Mudgee on 22 December 1845, and again at Singleton on 20 August 1848.

His father, George, purchased 40 acres of farming land at Luskintyre in June 1851 (part of T. W. M. Winder's subdivided "Luskintyre Estate"), and called the farm "Sunnyside". His Will left the farm to his wife for her lifetime, thence to youngest son, David. David's mother, Ann, died in 1881.

Evidently a new house was built on the property in 1904, and David actively farmed on Sunnyside until about 1905 (age 65, when he re-married). In 1907 he advertised for the farm's sale or lease by tender; the land being share-farmed from that point, but the family remaining in residence for some years.

In 1922, daughter Ivy sued the then share-farmer for damages for neglect of the extensive orchard. Later share faming was for dairying. No record was found of the date of sale, but by 2021 the house was on only a 5 acre block.

Birth date is after baptism date. Both should be reviewed and corrected. Hopefully just a typo.
Russell-8854 and Russell-7745 appear to represent the same person because: Both born 1840 Burwash, the son of George Russell and Ann nee Weston
