Biography
Bessie Belle Russell was born in 1881 in Harbour Island, Bahamas to Thomas Edwin Russell and Jane Adora Higgs Russell.
She married Clayton Roy Rogers, son of the Reverend Noah Benjamin Rogers and Arminda Belveal Rogers, 14 September 1909, in Key West, Florida. He was serving in the Army. Roy had enlisted in 1908 for a period of three years; in 1910, he and Bessie were living at Fort Screven, Tybee Island, Chatham County, Georgia.
Bessie Belle and Clayton Roy Rogers had two sons - born in Harbour Island, Bahamas - before their marriage ended. Glen Raymond Rogers was born in 1911 and Kenneth Leon Rogers was born in 1913.
Bessie Belle Russell died in 1966 in Harbour Island at 85 years of age.
